The Founder of the business, Perry Holt, has extensive experience in the commercial property market which he has gained over 50 years in the Watford and Southwest Hertfordshire area. In December 2019 Alex Sewell was appointed Managing Director. Alex, Perry and the team will work together to deliver on the company’s growth plans for 2022 (the company’s 20th anniversary year) and beyond. Alex brings extensive experience of the local residential market having run the successful agency Sewell & Gardner since 2002.

I have been working in commercial property, based in Watford, since 1970 so have over 50 years experience in the property market. I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1986 and became a Fellow of the RICS in 2000.
Having started my career is West London working for my uncle after relocating to Watford, I became a partner in a multi-discipline practice ultimately running the commercial department. That business was sold to the Abbey National Building Society (Santander) following which a fellow partner & I started our own business which we merged with another group with 5 offices.
In 2001 I established Perry Holt & Co as a specialist commercial consultancy which is a Chartered Surveying Practice dealing with a variety of properties mainly in Watford, South Hertfordshire and North London, and also on a client specific basis throughout the country. I have a number of excellent clients who I advise on property acquisition, letting and sales, valuation, rent review and property asset valuation.
Alex established Sewell & Gardner in 2002 and has overseen huge growth in that time. Having won the Sunday Times Small Estate Agency of the year for 3 consecutive years, Sewell & Gardner have continued their growth by establishing bespoke New Homes & Land teams to complement their Sales & Lettings operations.
During that time S&G have sold over 850 new homes and have been involved in over 40 separate land acquisitions with a combined value of nearly £400 million.
In 2019, Sewell & Gardner completed the purchase of Perry Holt, the area’s leading independent Commercial agents, to complement their residential business and create new opportunity within both businesses.
I live in Watford with my wife and 3 children, having grown up in the area.
I have been a part of the Perry Holt team since 2008 whereby my knowledge on the commercial markets across South West Hertfordshire has grown extensively. I oversee the commercial agency department for all sectors, this ranges from small retail units to large industrial off-market sales.
My client range is very extensive incorporating large institutional funds to small one of landlords. I pride myself on being one of the leading agents in Watford and surrounding area’s due to building fantastic relationships with local occupiers and landlords. One thing I am most proud of is being responsible in my time for nearly £200 million in sales and acquisitions.
Outside of work I am family man with Gizmo the dog and enjoy good food & company.
Having been part of our sister company, Sewell & Gardner for several years where I worked in residential agency and Land & New Homes, I joined Perry Holt in 2019 to grow the land & development side of the business.
No day is the same for me due to how wide ranging the development industry is, meaning I could be working on a small parcel of land with the potential for a small block of flats to the other end of the scale acquiring a large industrial estate primed for a regeneration scheme. I also assist the commercial team in bulk investment acquisitions and sales which enables us in general as a team to be capable of dealing with any opportunity.
Outside of work I enjoy the gym, pubs, football matches and good food!
I first joined Perry Holt & Co in 2015 where my journey began as a personal assistant to Perry Holt, I have since developed my skills and knowledge of business and the commercial property industry.
I provide the team with key support in managing their hectic and demanding schedules; assisting Perry with his work on valuations and acquisitions of land and development schemes.
I am responsible for the marketing of properties, liaising with clients and dealing with applicant enquiries together with administration procedures that facilitate the smooth running of the business.
